How joining works
1. Apply and reserve your place
Create your secure member account as a Founding Member and securely enter your card details with Stripe. Nothing is charged today. Your founding place and monthly rate are reserved, subject to successful verification.
2. Tell us about your practice
Answer a few short questions and upload your recognised MLD training certificate and current professional insurance schedule through the secure dashboard. A person reviews your application against the published Verification Standard. We aim to review complete applications within a few working days, then prepare your profile and draft your professional bio.
3. Review and approve
6 calendar months free, then £10 a month including VAT. Your free period begins when your approved, confirmed profile is public after launch. We confirm the exact first-payment date and send reminders 14 and 3 days beforehand.
If anything needs clarification, we explain exactly what is needed and give you 14 days to resolve it. If it cannot be resolved, or your documents do not arrive within 14 days, your reserved place is simply released and nothing is charged.
Independent by design
The MLD Register is not owned by a training school, insurer or professional body, which preserves an independent standard for therapists and patients alike. It is owned and operated by Truly Empowered Ltd, the company behind Therapy Webgenie and VerifiedPractitioner, and funded through published membership fees. Every therapist must meet the same published Verification Standard before being listed.
Each profile brings reviewed training and current insurance together with fees, reviews, home visits and therapist-reported procedure experience, helping patients compare their options with confidence and contact you directly.
Featured placement changes visibility only. It does not alter what is reviewed, confer a higher verification status or imply greater clinical ability.
What we verify
Independently reviewed
Recognised postoperative MLD training and current professional insurance, checked by a person against the published standard before your profile goes live.
Therapist-reported
Specific surgeries and postoperative procedures, fees, home visits, practice locations and your professional biography. You are required to keep these accurate under the Code of Conduct.
Not assessed
Clinical competence, treatment quality and patient outcomes. Verification relates to the documents reviewed, and patient reviews remain separate from it, with their source clearly identified.
Membership of The MLD Register cannot guarantee patient enquiries, search-engine rankings or inclusion within AI-generated results.
Frequently asked questions
Which training programmes are accepted?
The Register accepts defined qualifications from recognised MLD schools and specifically accepted specialist programmes. The full list and the criteria used are published within the Verification Standard. Recognition is programme-specific. Acceptance of one programme does not mean that every course delivered by the same provider is accepted.
My original MLD certificate is several years old. Can I still apply?
Yes. An accepted original qualification does not expire solely because of its age. The separate Revalidated status is available where an accepted refresher, review or update has been completed within the previous 24 months.
My practice is principally postoperative rather than lymphoedema-focused. Is the Register relevant to me?
Yes. Patients can search by the particular surgery or postoperative procedure they have undergone, including procedures undertaken for cosmetic, reconstructive or medically indicated reasons. Your recognised training is displayed separately from the procedure-specific experience you report, and we do not independently audit caseload numbers, years of experience or treatment outcomes.
What happens to the documents I upload?
Training and insurance documents are stored securely and are not displayed publicly. Access is limited to the people responsible for verification. The public profile displays the outcome and relevant details of the review rather than the underlying documents. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
What happens if my insurance document expires?
The Register issues reminders in advance of the recorded expiry date. Where a replacement document is not supplied, the public profile is suspended and the live badge ceases to display active status until current insurance has been reviewed.
What happens if my application cannot be accepted?
We explain the reason clearly and allow 14 days for missing or clarifying evidence to be supplied. If the matter cannot be resolved, the application is closed and your reserved place is released. Nothing has been charged, and nothing ever is.
